In some way or another, most modern grovellers are influenced by the works of Bob Simmons approach, that was refined decades later by Richard Kenvin mostly with Joe Bauguess. The Buttplug is clearly a Simmons derivative; a wide and flat board which translates to a fast board with a lot of paddle power.
It starts working on really small waves, but its sweet spot is just under head high to just overhead. That’s when it really starts going fast. Hard rails until the leading edge of the front fins, turning softer to round through to the nose. This and the wide tail really make a versatile and user friendly board. We strongly advise to ride this board as short as possible, as a rule of thumb, the nose should not be over your chin when standing next to it.
